About Me

Founder of Toronto Photo Walks

Arrivals' view of the skylineAfter buying my first digital camera I began exploring the city, and in 2009 I started Toronto Photo Walks as a way to share the fun.
The walks have grown to an average of about 25 people, peaking at over 50 participants, and the group has well over 2,000 members (although most are just there to see our shots).

I planned and led a photowalk as part of the Scott Kelby WorldWide Photo Walk (WWPW) in 2010, 2011, and again in 2016. (Other TOPW members organised WWPW walks in the interim years.)

As a huge fan of motor racing it was amazing to be invited to be one of the official photographers at the 2010 Honda Indy Toronto. I have been asked back to shoot the Indy every year since then.

Two of the nine-shot montage on Honda Indy Toronto’s history page are mine; I have also had some appear in the race weekend programme and the official social media feeds.

I also enjoy shooting my favourite band, Marillion, and have had some of my images featured on fan sites.

Some of shots of the Pickering Dragon Boat Club (PDBC) practice sessions and races appear on their website, Facebook group, and coach’s website.

My first show was a small group exhibition at the Gladstone in 2011; here’s one of my photos.
Toronto Photo Walks’ first group exhibition was in 2012, and I showed four pieces.
In 2014 we had TOPW’s second group show, and I showed another four images.

Other highlights

One of my shots (“branchcicles”) was used in a David Suzuki Foundation report.

Toronto East General Hospital Foundation used one of my shots on their Holiday 2012 cards.

I was asked by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority to lead a nature photography workshop as part of the 2012 Spring Bird Festival at Tommy Thompson Park; I brought in three people from the TOPW group so that we could break the workshop into smaller groups, and everyone had fun.
